Korean news outlet Dispatch is the front runner of spotting and releasing photos of Korean celebrities on an alleged date. For K-Pop fans, the photos are welcomed and expected, especially on the first day of New Year when many celebrity couples announce to the public about their romantic relationships. Normally, Dispatch releases several dating photos and reveals additional information such as information about when the couple started dating, dating place, and meeting method. There is a saying that if Dispatch releases photos of a celebrity couple on a date than most probably it is not just a rumor about them dating. Some Korean entertainment companies are suspected of setting up the dating scheme to increase the popularity of their artists, especially during the promotion of a new album or an upcoming new project. Many celebrity couples separated after several months but some others have remained in a romantic relationship for years. Junhyung and Hara
Junhyung and Hara were spotted on a date on June 9th, 2011. Junhyung recently returned from his BEAST concert in Japan and wasted no time to see his beloved lady, Hara. The couple enjoyed a cup of coffee in a café around the Gangnam area. They went to Junhyung’s apartment and walked around his neighborhood area. The couple then went on another date, on June 13th, 2011, an early morning walk around the famous Hongdae area. Both of their agencies, Hara’s DSP Media and Junhyung’s Cube Entertainment, on June 28th, 2011, acknowledged the couple’s relationship and stated that the relationship was at an early stage of getting to know each other. They previously had a junior and senior relationship but soon enough it developed into a romantic relationship. The agency also stated that the couple has been dating for a month and they have so far gone on three dates. Junhyung and Hara’s romantic relationship lasted only less than two years. There was a report about their break-up on March 23rd, 2013. Both of them publicly announced their break-up. Each of them said that the reason for their break-up was busy schedules.
Lee Seung-gi and Yoona
At the end of 2013, a new celebrity couple was confirmed. Photos of Lee Seung-gi and Yoona having a date circulated on online media. Based on the media’s information, the picture was taken on October 8th, 2013. Lee Seung-gi, freshly returned from a Japanese concert tour, went to Yoona’s house and took her for a ride in his car. They reportedly went to Han River and enjoyed the date for about an hour. Because of their famous faces, the couple only had a car date. The couple never wore fancy clothes while on a date and Lee Seung-gi always took her back to the apartment before midnight. Jung Kyung-ho and Sooyoung
Online media sites caught Jung Kyung-ho and Sooyoung on several dates around late December 2013. It was revealed that the couple had been dating since September 2012. Both Jung Kyung-ho and Sooyoung are Christian and attended the same church and also the same college department of the same university. They are senior and junior of the Theatre Department at Joongang University. Sooyoung and Jung Kyung-ho became closer after she asked for his advice during the shooting of Dating Agency Cyrano. On Christmas, in 2013, the couple spent Christmas night together and went to buy Christmas gifts. Jung Kyung-ho and Sooyoung went out and went for a secret date. The couple had a three-year age difference, Taeyeon was older Baekhyun. Reportedly, Taeyeon and Baekhyun had been dating for four months. Baekhyun was Taeyeon’s junior in SM Entertainment. They were reportedly close since October 2013 but only started dating since February 2014. After their dating photos emerged, SM Entertainment confirmed their relationship. The Taeyeon and Baekhyun couple was recorded as the first publicly admitted SM Entertainment couple.
