True Beauty: Drama Review
True Beauty is a K-drama adapted from a webtoon with the same title. The story follows Lim Ju-kyung who has low self-esteem due to her inferiority complex. Luckily, Lee Su-ho saved her life. Their encounter was pure coincidence, but then they met again in the same high school. In her new school, Jukyung was transferred into an ‘angel’ after she started to wear makeup to increase her confidence. Jukyung started to make friends with everyone, even with Suho. As time went by, Jukyung and Suho developed feelings for each other. Problems filled their school life when Suho’s childhood friend Soojin has feelings for him, then Suho’s ex-friend Seojun has a crush on Jukyung, and people start to know the truth behind Jukyung’s makeup appearance! True Beauty’s last episode wrapped up everything between Suho-Jukyung-Seojun’s love story and how Jukyung will eventually deal with her confidence, even without makeup! After Suho stayed in America, Jukyung still keeps in touch with him until the long-distance-relationship became very hard for them. To forget her feelings for Suho, Jukyung spent her days at makeup school and hanging out with friends, including Seojun. She was learned that Seojun likes her after his confession. SPOILER ALERT: Jukyung eventually ended up with Suho. Even though Seojun tried his best to win her heart, Jukyung’s feelings remained the same for Suho. Jukyung’s relationship with Soojin also became better since she expressed her apology towards Jukyung. The Comparison Between True Beauty’s Webtoon and Drama Version
Although True Beauty was based on a Webtoon series, it wasn’t meant that the whole plot would be the same. Instead, they have some differences between the drama and the Webtoon version. Check out some of the comparisons here: Jukyung’s Boyfriend Her first boyfriend wasn’t Suho, it was Seojun! After Suho left South Korea, Jukyung became even close with Seojun until both of them realized their feelings and started to date. Kang Soo-jin’s Character On Webtoon, Soojin’s character wasn’t as bad as the drama. She was a popular girl who was envious of Jukyung, and she wasn’t Suho’s childhood friend who had a crush on him. How Jukyung Reveals Her ‘No Makeup’ Appearances In the drama, Jukyung’s bare face was secretly spread by Soojin, and it was accidentally exposed in front of Jukyung’s closest friends Sua and Chae-rin. Jukyung and Suho’s First Encounter They met for the first time in the bookstore, not when Suho accidentally saved Jukyung when she tried to commit suicide.
