Lee Yoo-ri in Knowing Brothers
Lee Yoo-ri appeared in the South Korean television entertainment program by JTBC titled Knowing Brother, or also known as Men on a Mission, or Ask Us Anything. She appeared in episode 163. Lee Yoo-ri lit up the set of Knowing Bros with a cover of BTS’ “Fire.” During her guest appearance in the variety show, the actress confidently declared, “I’m really going to set [the cast members’] hearts on fire.” The cast became curious about what she had planned, and Lee Yoo-ri went on, “I can’t do it alone. I need someone who’s ready to help me.” The actress prepared for her performance by donning a pair of sunglasses, and Super Junior’s Kim Heechul wondered aloud, “Is she going to do an impersonation of Ha Jung Woo?” Lee Yoo-ri then asked Kim Heechul and Min Kyung Hoon to come up and help her, leading Kim Heechul to guess, “It must be a girl group dance.” Lee Yoo-ri told Min Kyung Hoon, “Remember the early days of our career when things were tough? Remember those days and that competitive feeling you had back then [while dancing].” The actress then instructed the two men to stand in front of her and dance, telling Kim Heechul to “dance sexily” and Min Kyung Hoon to show off his awkward moves from his rookie days. As the two cast members obediently complied, Lee Soo Geun commented with a laugh, “I’m really curious about what this is.” With her backup dancers in position, Lee Yoo-ri jumped into a hilarious cover of BTS’ “Fire,” completed with actual lighters.

A post shared by 이유리 Lee Yuri (@leeyuri007) on Feb 24, 2019 at 6:26pm PST In 2011, Lee and fellow actress Lee Soo-kyum co-launched the female apparel shopping mall Miss Today. 2017 was another highly eventful and successful year for Lee Yoo-ri, as she was cast to play the leading role in the family drama Father is Strange. And it was her acting in this drama that won her the Actress of The Year Award and the Brand of The Year award. The same year, Lee Yoo-ri got to play Min Chae Rin in the drama titled Hide and Seek. On July 23rd, a source from Lee Yoo-ri’s agency told Star News, “Lee Yoo-ri will appear in Singer (literal title).” Singer is a film about pansori, a traditional Korean music genre of expressive singing and storytelling. It takes place in the year 1734, during the Joseon Dynasty, and tells the story of people in the lowest social status who write and sing songs about their lives while being exploited by aristocrats. Lee Yoo-ri will appear as a singer in the lowest class who expresses sorrow and pain while traveling around the country. Since this is the actress’ first attempt at pansori, she’s learning from director Jo Jung Rae and experts in pansori. This will be Lee Yoo-ri’s first film in 15 years after Bunshinsaba in 2012. The actress rose to stardom due to her Grand Prize-winning performance as a villain in MBC’s Jang Bo Ri Is Here and she has gone onto appearing in many dramas including Father Is Strange, Hide and Seek, and Spring Turns to Spring. Shinhwa’s Kim Dong Wan also confirmed his appearance which will also be his first sageuk (historical) role. The Shinhwa member made his film debut through the 2004 movie Spin Kick and has appeared in other works including the film Deranged, the drama Moorim School, and more. Kim Dong Wan will appear alongside Lee Yoo Ri as a member of the pansori group. Singer will start filming in the second half of this year and premiere in the first half of 2020. Director Jo Jung Rae of Spirits’ Homecoming will be directing and writing the screenplay. Let’s wait for Lee Yoo-ri’s upcoming historical drama!
