Running Man
Noel’s Kang Kyun-sung appeared on the SBS reality show, Running Man on episode 243 (Broadcast on April 19, 2015) along with a few other guest members, such as Hong Jong-hyun, Jang Su-won, and Yoo Byung-jae. During that episode, the regular Running Man cast members were given the task to race each other in picking the guest. The cast was instructed to climb into a van where the mystery guests were all rising stars, and were waiting by the road to be picked up. It was up to the cast to let said guests in or not—and to make room, they’d need to drop off one of their own in exchange. Noel’s Kang Kyun-sung became the first guest that was being picked up by the Running Man cast. He opened up his mask and immediately brought on the laughs with his soft speaking voice contrasting with his rockstar impersonation. Kang Kyun-sung’s appearance on that episode brought a lot of laughter and freshness to the viewers and the cast, alike. Later, he talked about how much SBS’s Running Man wanted him on the show on the April 25, 2015, episode of KBS 2TV‘s Immortal Song. Kang Kyun-sung said that at first, the Immortal Song recording was going to overlap with the Running Man recording. Kang Kyun-sung confesses, “I could only sleep for one hour. It wasn’t ‘Infinite Challenge‘ today, but ‘Running Man.’” He then revealed, “At first, I politely declined the ‘Running Man’ recording since I had already confirmed the ‘Immortal Song’ schedule. In the end, the ‘Running Man’ staff moved the schedule.” He then said, “Because of me, the huge variety of seniors like Yoo Jae Suk and Kim Jong Kook had their schedules changed, as well. But I don’t think they know that.” Moon Hee Jun jokingly responded, “I should tell Kim Jong Jook that he had to have his scheduled moved just because of this Kang Kyun Sung kid,” much to Kang Kyun-sung’s horror and the viewers’ laughter.
Knowing Brothers
Kang Kyun-sung also appeared on JTBC’s Knowing Brotherss episode 18, which was broadcast on April 2, 2016, along with Sech Kies’s Eun Ji-won. In that episode, Eun Ji-Won challenged the class to a game of Indian poker, while Kang Kyun-Sung invites Knowing Brothers cast to slackline. They also answered some quiz questions about themselves and explained them to the class.
During one of the iconic moments in the episode, Kyun-sung suddenly dropped his feminine, shy act and laughed like a maniac while acting threateningly to Kang Ho-Dong and hitting various classmates with the rubber mallet. They then ganged up on him. He later got super creepy as an act, and every one was backed up into a corner. He then unexpectedly hit Kang-Hoon, who was minding his business. One of the other classmates held up a ‘please call the cops’ sign as Kyun-Sung went crazy in the background, hitting everyone. He successfully brought a lot of laughter in that episode.

Although Noel‘s Kang Kyun Sung undoubtedly looked hotter when he cut his hair short, he revealed that variety shows stopped casting him once he cut his hair. The singer appeared on the November 14th, 2019, broadcast of AKMU Suhyun’s radio show on KBS’s KoolFM, where he featured his group’s new song, “Last Night at Alley in Front of Your House.” The singer used to be a hot commodity in variety shows for his unique charm and 4D personality, but he revealed that “once I cut my hair, my variety show appearances also got cut.” The singer used to have a trademark long hairstyle but cut it short, resulting in many people complimenting his good looks.
