VAV’s Debut Era: Plagiarism Controversy
VAV started its debut by releasing its first mini-album, Under The Moonlight. This mini-album debut was released on November 2, 2015, with a total of 4 songs. Meanwhile, their stage debut was held on November 8, 2015, on SBS’ ‘Inkigayo’ by promoting Under The Moonlight. But unfortunately, the new rookie group VAV, which released their first debut under the agency AQ Entertainment with a mini-album entitled Under The Moonlight, did not escape being accused of imitating the VIXX group. The post published on Pann entitled “The group imitating VIXX ;;;;;” The creator of the post also wrote, “I’m afraid that a group like this will debut and the media will claim that they are the ‘second VIXX’ ㅠㅠㅠ ㅠㅠㅠ”. They then posted a compilation explaining the similarities between VAV and VIXX in terms of choreography and makeup styles, similar eye accessories, and dance moves. They use a style of make-up and soft lenses that are similar in color. Even though the VAV members in the photo are not wearing soft lenses, they imitate eye make-up and use accessories around their eyes like VIXX. Even their choreography looks the same. The way of standing and how a member in the middle makes a different move while the others pointing in a direction are very similar. They also made the dance moves look very similar to the VIXX move on the right. And ends with a caption, “What’s wrong with a group like this to to to. I myself am not one of the VIXX fans, but it pisses me off. I think popularity has its own price, and not 100% of popularity is positive ㅠ ㅠㅠㅠ ㅠㅠㅠ”.
